Yoga

Yoga is an ancient practice, thought to be over 5,000 years old, that focuses on breathing, flexibility and strength to boost physical and mental wellbeing. It combines complimentary physical, mental and spiritual practices in a holistic manner. The foundations of yoga practice are built on controlled breathing and postures known as asana.

The word “yoga” itself originates from the Sanskrit for “yoke” meaning union or bond. Thus, the emphasis is on the connections between the body movement,  breath and the mind. Through this approach a meditative quality is achieved,

which can be traced back to the Hindu and Buddist philosophies it has originated from.

There are many benefits to regular and supervised yoga practice, including:

  • Increased strength & flexibility
  • Enhanced mental clarity
  • Improved balance and coordination
  • Reduced stress or anxiety
  • Greater awareness and connection to your breath
